This mind-blowing feature-length documentary answers provocative questions about the philosophy of our monetary system and how it affects human culture. Money is at the intersection of nearly every aspect of modern life. Most of us take the monetary system for granted, but it has a profound and largely misunderstood influence on our lives. The Money Fix explores our society's relationship with the dollar. So where does money come from and who controls it? If individuals consider it at all, they probably think that the government creates it. Writer and producer Rosenblith demystifies the murky world of finance and economics, revealing that money is created by the banking system and it enters the economy as bank debt. What does this mean to the individual? Well, if you go into a bank to ask for a loan, every dollar you receive is someone else’s debt. In effect, money is actually created out of thin air and even scarier is the fact that more money is owed to the banks than exists in circulation. Another concept introduced is that the scarcity of money is artificially created. One of the best aspects of this work is the refreshing connection it makes between the economy and the ecosystem. Following the example set by nature, the documentary provides a path for the world of finance to enter realm of cooperation rather than competition. Additionally, the film’s website is available to continue learning about the three types of alternative money systems the film presents. The topic is well-organized, carefully researched and presented, and will prove fascinating for students, investors, and the general public. Graphics used are interesting and very illustrative. This DVD is suitable for high school and college students as well as adults, and public and academic libraries will want to purchase.
