Learning how to stand out positively from the crowd in the interview process is not simply luck. It is a skill that can be learned by being appropriately prepared, professional, and practiced. This short DVD does exactly what the title indicates. Host, Liza Cordeiro, lists the categories of common interview questions, the most common mistakes made when answering those questions, and how to prepare so the viewer can refrain from making those same mistakes.

Interview question categories reviewed are: icebreakers or first impression questions, personal and interpersonal questions, strength and weakness questions, behavioral interview questions, general interview questions, and non-questions. Within each category, the most common questions are suggested with a corresponding example of how to handle a sample question from that category well and how to handle the question poorly. A brief summation is given after each type of question so the viewer can quickly remember what to do and what not to do.

Interspersed with the positive and negative examples of handling a particular category of question are comments and real-life examples from professionals in the career guidance industry. Input is given by a career counselor, an image consultant, a manpower agency owner, a marketing director, and an author of a published career guidance title.

This DVD covers a good deal of material quickly and succinctly. Breaking down common interview questions into categories will help the viewer target preparation and focus responses on relevant information and skills pursuant to the position. The positive and negative examples are believable and helpful in highlighting the most appropriate response. Telephone interviews, social media, and interviewing via the Internet are also briefly covered.
