Reviewed by Christopher Hollister, University at Buffalo LibrariesAnna, Emma and the Condors is a short documentary that provides a glimpse into the lives of the extraordinary Parish family and their devotion to the recovery of the critically endangered California condor. Anna and Emma are the young daughters of Chris and Ellen Parish, who raised them to assist with saving, caring for, and reintroducing condors into the wild. The documentary is filmed in Arizona’s remote Vermillion Cliffs National Monument, where the Parish family lives, and where Chris is the director of the Peregrine Fund’s California condor restoration project. Through their lives of simplicity and their remarkable, hands-on work with the condors, Anna and Emma learn about the interconnectedness of life, and they develop the values that reflect that understanding.
Albeit the film does not go into great depth about condors, the reviewer highly recommends this title for public and school library collections.
