“Just because I’m homeless doesn’t mean I don’t have a life, because I do have a life.”An engaging documentary about homelessness and hope from the viewpoint of soft-spoken, thoughtful, 15-year-old Inocente. As she narrates the challenges she’s faced in her life—an abusive childhood, homelessness, undocumented status—as well as the opportunities she receives from working on her art, it’s hard not to become caught up in her world. The framework of the film revolves around Inocente’s preparations for a highly competitive arts show and her hope to get into the Toussaint Academy, a shelter for teens that may give her a stable home for the first time since she was 6.
