Login 2 Life has an excellent film trapped inside a good film. It features seven people who spend a vast amount of time online. The two main stories focus on mostly homebound individuals, Alice, who has multiple sclerosis, and Corey, who was paralyzed in a car accident. Both have limited social lives in the physical world but found rewarding interaction online. Alice created an island within Second Life specifically for people with disabilities. Not only does Corey find his way to this island but so does his mother who finds a much needed support system. These story lines are fascinating and engaging.

Two other storylines intersect with those of Alice and Corey. Jaynine Scaroborough is a musician who chooses to perform in Second Life. Her music is an inspiration to Alice and, by films’ end, the two meet in real life when Alice travels to Germany to present at a conference. Kevin creates animated sex acts for Second Life. The impact this has on his family is fascinating, frustrating and sometimes humorous. For a significant part of the film, this thread doesn't seem to have anything to do with the main stories; however, Kevin is eventually recruited by Alice to create animated dance routines for people in wheelchairs. Unfortunately, the film never reveals the finished product.

These core stories form a strong backbone for the movie and are the most interesting. The remaining stories focus on people engaged mainly with World of Warcraft and do not relate to the main stories. Although somewhat interesting, they detract from Alice and Corey's more substantial engagement in the online world.

Login 2 Life is a sporadically fascinating film but one that frustrates. It's worth watching for the Alice and Corey threads.

Segments that focus on Kevin's animation work are sexually explicit making this title inappropriate for younger audiences.
