A Perfect Day is a short, dramatic film representation of a potential, adolescent school shooter. The film depicts a characteristically troubled youth in the context of an affluent, but borderline dysfunctional family setting. Viewers will immediately feel the relative stew of tensions, and they will recognize the unsettling clues in terms of what the featured youth has planned.

Appropriately, this video is both disturbing and provocative. As described by the producer, it is intended as a conversation starter for students, parents, teachers, and school administrators. Given the ongoing tragedy of school shootings across the United States, that conversation is crucial.

The DVD packet for A Perfect Day also includes a teacher’s resource book with fact sheets, student activities, and learning objectives. The reviewer recommends this video for academic, public, and school library collections.
