This brief DVD deals with the particular challenges of teenage drivers, those with fewer than three or four years of driving experience. Fact: 3 out of 10 recently-licensed drivers in the U.S. are involved in car crashes. Some of the reasons: drinking while driving; using cell phones while driving; texting while driving; falling asleep at the wheel; speeding; tailgating; not wearing seatbelts. The interviews in the film make for sobering viewing. The film ends on a positive note: many high schools now incorporate “test runs” where instructors allow student drivers to “crash” at low speeds in controlled environments, to give them some appreciation of the potential difficulties of driving. Unlike older drivers, young drivers do not have a reservoir of experience to allow them to exercise caution and anticipate danger in all driving circumstances.

This DVD comes with a PDF of the teacher’s manual that accompanies the film.
