Reviewed by Michael Fein, Coordinator of Library Services, Central Virginia Community College, Lynchburg, VANo, this is NOT the H.G. Wells' classic. Rather, this original work concerns a young boy named Kevin (played by Henry Dineen) and his father (played by Alex Karzis.) Recently widowed, the father is seemingly oblivious to Kevin's attempts for his attention. However, Kevin builds a sled, which has christened "Time Machine" and finally convinces his father to ride it with him. The father makes improvements to "Time Machine" and they ride it together. When they do, they are transported back in time to a pioneer village. There is very little dialogue in this production; the story line is kept moving by various shots that portray the underlying emotions of the father and/or Kevin or set the mood for the scene. For example, several times a family portrait is viewed. The actors portrayals are credible and this reviewer found no technical flaws in this production. For those libraries wishing a film that takes a look at a part of father-son relations for grades 4-6, this should be of interest.
