The Colorado River supplies water to more than 25 million people and irrigates countless acres of farmland. More water has been exported from the Colorado than any other drainage basin on earth and in the course of a generation the decision to side with economic development over ecological protection has resulted in the near destruction of the delta. High water releases in 1997-2000 reversed some of the damage and spurred interest in restoration programs on both sides of the border. Interviews and images of the delta are woven together to tell the story. The film is close captioned and contains easy-to-read subtitles for interviews with Spanish speakers. The film is well-edited and very informative and is appropriate for school and public libraries. This is a very approachable, informative film and would be useful in a classroom situation. If additional information is required, this film is part of the “Colorado River Screen Package” along with Remains of a River (22 minutes) and Powell to Powell (24 minutes).
