Another health film in a series by Human Relations Media targeting young people, this documentary warns about the dangers of “vaping” – inhaling vaporized substances such as nicotine, marijuana or alcohol via a device – despite common misperceptions of its relative safety. Another factor in the widespread use of e-cigarettes especially is its “cool factor” among youth. With the observations of a number of likeable young people and not-too-uncool adult experts, these misperceptions are dispelled handily, while the known and still unknown but potential hazards of vaping are laid out in a frank, easy to follow fashion. Following the “Truth” anti-tobacco campaign, the big business tactics of the e-cigarette industry are laid out for viewers to draw their own conclusions, while the inherent self-destructiveness of inhaling marijuana and especially alcohol vapors is made plain. The progression of more than one young narrator from the beginning of the film as seemingly unconcerned with the safety of vaping to being apparently awakened to its hazards by the end is effective. Recommended for all adolescent health media collections.
