This film follows the rising of various grassroots movements across the United States that exist to both raise awareness of the environmental concerns and the violation of personal and property rights of citizens brought on by industrial fracking. The film follows several key people in the various movements as they work to get more people involved in championing the cause for both clean air and clean water. Interviews with property owners whose property value suffered as a result of the natural gas wells being just feet from the property line, medical professionals discussing the increased health-related issues of people living in close proximity to the wells, and segments from political speeches and advertisements provide the reader with the better understanding the true issue at concern. It is more than just finding more efficient and effective sources of energy; it is about caring for the environment, and the needs of those you live near and with. It is interesting to note the effect that common citizens can have politically when they band together. The film concludes with an update on developments since 2014, including increased municipal and state bans on fracking, moratoriums on fracking, international bodies banning fracking, and the rise of a number of organizations opposed to fracking. This film would be useful in studying the ethical and social responsibility factors involved in big business, industry development, and politics. Students working in sociology, health care, political science, environmentalism, and ecology could benefit from this film.
