Currently a professor at UCLA, Friedlander relates to the viewer his autobiography in the context of the Holocaust and his own research into and writing of its origins. We see various images of his family or other photos or film that illustrate his narrative. It can be somewhat disturbing to see the images and to hear of his own fate as well as the fate of his family. Technically, the film is outstanding. Jewish studies and Holocaust collections would benefit the most, as would also those collections that deal with historiography.
