This video takes a hard look at the realities of rehabilitation, coping, and surviving in today's society with a disability or disabilities. The stories of four people who have persevered through tragic situations, have lost an appendige or mobility due to a tragedy, and are now dealing with their disability in a positive light, are the focus of this video. All four people highlighted in the video have excelled in sports and sporting events since their tragedy, and three of the four are extensively involved in sled hockey. Denise became confined to a wheelchair after a car accident, and currently works with disabled students in a local community college and is a top-ranked wheelchair tennis player. Paul lost the use of his legs due to a hockey injury and infection, and is currently on the U.S. National Mono-Skiing Team. Kip broke his back in a construction accident, and currently is on the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. Dale's leg was amputated in his 40's due to cancer, and he is a foster father to many disabled children, and plays sled hockey.

Not on the Sidelines is an inspiration to all disabled people. The individuals in the video talk about their struggles with identity, future, despair, and even sex, and how they have tried to find meaning and a lifestyle as a disabled person. A highly recommended program for all age groups, as well as for use in educational situations.
