Reviewed by Sandy Costanza D’Youville College, Buffalo, NYWhat do you do when you live in the city and find a wild animal that needs your help? Urban wildlife is an ever increasing problem as we displace our wildlife from their natural environment with new homes, businesses and roads. Should these animals be forced to adapt to our lifestyle or is it our responsibility to relocate them to their natural environment or better yet to an environment suited to their individual needs and safety?
Much as the white man bulldozed the Indians our human society is bulldozing the wildlife among us. Mira Tweti does an excellent job of exploring these issues in Little Miss Dewie. This is a film of dedication, love and infinite patience to find the right home for her found duckling.
Tweti goes above and beyond what the average person would to care and relocate Dewie to the appropriate home. It is a film that raises questions but also demonstrates what can be done with perseverance and kindness.
