Although we associate darkness with space and light with matter, space and matter are truly inseparable as are light and darkness. Color is our interpretation of light, as colors arise where light and dark (space and matter) meet, and they engage in a neverending struggle.

This well-crafted, high-quality video is engagingly and very professionally narrated (this reviewer could not determine the identity of the narrator), and uses time-lapse cinematography very effectively. The fluid exchange between aesthetic laboratory experiments and dazzlingly beautiful photographs of the sea, fields of lavender, and idyllic pastoral scenes will help viewers of many ages understand color. Goethe explored the natural laws and phenomena surrounding human visual perceptions for over 40 years, but in less than an hour viewers will feel greatly enlighted about his work and our relationship with color and with nature. This outstanding and very intellectually stimulating film is highly recommended.
