Cinemas de traverse is a full-length documentary film about experimental film. It features conversations with many experimental filmmakers about their work. Included are footage documenting the creative and production processes of the filmmakers, together with excerpts from numerous experimental films.

Cinemas de traverse is most relevant to artists and students in the field of experimental film, but may also be of interest to those studying and working in more traditional or mainstream filmmaking. It will be useful for classroom study of these subjects however, it is likely that excerpts, rather than the entire film, would be selected for all but the most serious students.

This film features filmmakers from different countries and is presented mainly in French, although some segments are in English. English and French subtitles are available to viewers. The DVD packaging includes the main feature and a “bonus” DVD, as well as an informative booklet introducing Cinemas de traverse.
