The Fear of 13 documents the true story of a man who spent 21 years in prison for a crime that he did not commit. The storytelling is magnificent and leaves you on the edge of your seat throughout the film. Many documentaries follow a question and answer format, but in the case of Yarris, he weaves a stunning monologue which suits the artistic style of the film.

Highlighted by this amazing story of hope, is the importance of the evolution of science in the criminal justice system. Yarris was convicted during the time before DNA testing, and was found guilty based on circumstantial evidence, as there was no physical evidence linking him to the crime. He was the 13th death row inmate to be saved by DNA testing post conviction, and the 140th overall.

An excellent addition to any true crime collection, and an excellent example for those that need to highlight the importance of DNA testing in the criminal justice system.
