A lesbian couple in Tallahassee, Florida adopt a very young baby boy only to find out that the answer their son has to the question: What do you want to be when you grow up?....is a girl.

The parents are loving and supportive of their son allowing him to be who he is in an open and safe environment. The encouragement and freedom they allow Jeffrey is amazing to watch and a lesson to all parents. However, identifying a primary audience for this film is a bit of a challenge. For an individual or family struggling with this issue by all means it is very appropriate. For others I’m not sure it will provide the necessary education to bring the issue of gender identity into the forefront as a positive, accepting experience. The film identifies one family with lesbian parents and a transgender child which isn’t always the case. The heterosexual family with a transgender child is not addressed. Additional education with different scenarios would make this a stronger film and appeal to a wider audience.
