Fat Wreck Chords simply began as a means for “Fat” Mike, and his band NOFX, to release their music, independent of corporate influence and expectations. It eventually grew into a successful, independent label who gave their punk rock musicians complete artistic freedom, which then created an entire subculture of music known as the “Fat Sound.”

Told through a mix of original footage, interviews and puppet montages, A Fat Wreck is a well-crafted documentary that provides insight into not only the history of Fat Wreck Chords, but into the complexities of starting a record label. Along with a soundtrack that any punk rock enthusiast would enjoy. This film is recommended for anyone that has an interest in punk music and for academic libraries with a strong music collection.
