This fascinating eclectic two-part series takes viewers behind-the-scenes to show the processes used by some of the world's finest designers. In the 21st century, art, design, and technology are all coming together. One of the examples shown here is the Jim Henson Creature Workshop where animatronics are developed using sculptors, computers, and nature; all are utilized to design imaginative or "real" synthetic creatures for films and television. Another segment describes the ideas taken into consideration in developing a more effective, more hygienic, more natural, and less intrusive inhaler for asthmatics.

In general, the examples of ingenuity and expertise are spellbinding, effectively demonstrating the creative process. However, for American audiences, the British accents may be somewhat difficult to understand at times. The picture quality is good, and each segment provides a judiciously edited look at new products and developments. These tapes will be enjoyable and inspiring for adults and young adults through public and academic libraries. They would definitely inspire science fair entries. Recommended.
