This film gets to the root of modern-day society: can humans unplug from their electronic devices? What does our digitized/electronic self look like? What survives in cyberspace of our self when we die? These and other questions at the intersections between the real and the virtual worlds are what has prompted the production of this film. A mysterious spirit that roams throughout cyberspace and complex mazes of data servers (voiced by writer Nancy Huston) comes across bytes of people's lives, such as marriage proposals, vacations, selfies... all while encountering the shades of past innovators and builders of the digital revolution. It is a provocative and fascinating meditation on time, memory, and technology. As part of a continuing experiment and futuristic project, the filmmaker has set up a website where virtual reality and one's own social media connections are used to create a 30-minute film that is augmented with one's own data (available at http://inlimbo.tv/en/). While I would be very careful providing access to one's social media accounts, the lure of seeing your virtual self displayed back from the Internet is intriguing. Highly recommended for viewing and experimentation.
