It houses over 80,000 people, and is now considered the fourth largest city in Jordan. After Spring tells the stories of some of the Zaatari Camp residents. Using home movies, interviews and news footage, it highlights the contrast of life in Syria from before the revolution to 2016. The residents’ yearning to return home and the heart break of knowing they can’t is palpable. This film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and reviewers there said it “puts a very human face on the refugee crisis,” which couldn’t be more true. As a viewer, I found myself in tears at some of the more poignant moments.
After Spring should be seen by everyone, so that it may increase awareness and understanding about the refugee crisis and the hardships the residents have been forced to go through. It is highly recommended for any high school to academic library or classroom.
