Patchwork: A Kaleidoscope of Quilts includes both antique and modern quilts and the comments of their makers; Prairie Quilts tells the story of a quilter who must adapt to a new landscape and make new friends after a cross-country move. Consisting of still photographs of quilts with a voice-over narration, these two videos have several unfortunate aspects. First of all, the viewer is provided very little, if any, context: in Patchwork, the narration doesn't provide any transition from one quilter to the next and there are no captions or other clues to the age or location of the quilt or quilter. And secondly, a number of the close-up photographs used are inexplicably backlit and thus very washed out. Not recommended.
