This documentary is a series of short films intending to capture life in foster care from the perspective of persons having lived in foster care and youth currently experiencing the system. Each participant provides his or her views on foster care and how it has helped them become the people they are, while also addressing some of the struggles. Viewers witness the subjects’ emotions as they grapple with issues of identity (My Identity, 11 min.), feeling wanted (Feeling Wanted, 14 min.), and defining family (Family Rewritten, 13 min.). The DVD also includes study guides to facilitate discussion. This film would be a useful resource for counselors, educators, and social workers as they work with foster care families and youth placed in foster care.
