This highly entertaining yet sad documentary is the story of the band Peelander-Z, comprised of Red (Kotaro Tsukada) and Yellow (Kengo Hioki), two colorful and outrageous musicians who have been together as partners and best friends for fifteen years. When Red announces that he wants to quit the band after one final tour, Yellow is left dealing with conflicting emotions quite different from his on-stage personality. This film is the story of that final concert tour, focusing on the antics of the band's "Japanese Action Comic Punk Band" style, madcap acrobatic stage antics, and the interactions between the two friends as the tour winds down. This is a super-wacky, fun, and high energy film; not only does it deal with modern music and the music industry, but emotional and psychological situations when friends part company. It would be useful for viewing in college-level music and dance classes.
