This DVD is a combination of three previously-released films on sculptor and pottery artist Peter Voulkos, who is known as the major influence behind the American Clay Revolution that began in the 1950s. The three films are: 1. Voulkos and Company (1972, 33 min) a portrait of Voulkos as he works on a large cast bronze sculpture for the San Francisco Hall of Justice, 2. Working in Clay (1992, 26 min.) which films Voulkos as he creates in his studio, and 3. Voulkos at Archie Bray (1955, 9 min.) which is an early film of the artist throwing clay on his wheel. As a bonus feature, the DVD also includes a photo gallery of Voulkos's work in paper, bronze, and clay from 1949-2001. For artists of all types, especially those involved with clay, this is an excellent biography of one prominent artist from early in his career to the present. College art classes in pottery, along with community art classes and public library demonstrations, will find this an excellent film to show to patrons and artists.
