The Bullish Farmer documents the life of a former Wall Streetsales manager John Ubaldo, whotransitioned into the business of animal husbandry. Ubaldo, a self-taught farmer, advocates throughout for organic farming over the use of chemicals from big agriculture. Presented are Ubaldo’s variety of agricultural business endeavors, his family life, the emotional lives of his animals and his business relationships with like-minded agricultural entrepreneurs. Director Marsolais covers theprocess of organic animal husbandry including the day-to-day operations of an animal farm. This is accomplished by offering examples of Ubaldo’s successes and challenges.

A tour de force in storytelling, Ubaldo is gregarious and sympathetic. Overall, The Bullish Farmer is replete with heartwarming moments coupled with the sobering realities of running a small scale farm. Upbeat in tempo, audiences will be well-served to view this film.

Given the films pacing, presentation and the unique charisma of John Ubaldo this film is accessible for all education levels. The Bullish Farmer should be included in public, school and academic libraries. It is recommended for the general public and academics alike.
