Out of La Negrura is a short distinct documentary about dance theater pieces that explore Latina-American experiences throughout the art of performance. It introduces the creative process of three Latinas of Caribbean roots: Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. Through the creation process they explore the connection with African ancestry. Each dancer brings different movements and comes from diverse cultural traditions, but they share a bond of Latina culture. Through their performances they provide experiences that Latino and people of color can relate to and find a common ground.

This documentary is a good source for Latin American studies, Hispanic studies, Women studies, Black Humanities Studies and courses about Caribbean diaspora, music rhythms, sociology, anthropology and dance history. Out of La Negrura is a unique source of information due to its topic distinctness. This makes it a great addition to special library collections such as, African, Latino or Hispanic Studies collections as well as Women or Performing Arts collection. Some of the dance forms shown are salsa, breaking and Afro-Caribbean movements.
