"As long as power and money are the foundation of the world, the world will never be at peace," notes Dr. Bernard Bail at the beginning of the documentary about his life There probably could have been three documentaries made about Dr. Bail, who survived a stint as a prisoner of war in Germany during World War II, where he fell in love with a nurse, something that had a profound impact on how he saw humanity.

Throughout his long career as a psychoanalyst, he clashed with more traditional peers in the field, but his theory of the "mother's imprint" impacting every child has had a profound impact on fellow psychoanalysts and patients, many of whom are interviewed in this work. When thinking about the trauma women have endured for centuries, it is not surprising when thinking of this theory to see the mental health crisis we are experiencing now. The appeal of this work is Dr. Bail, whose charisma and ideas are fascinating, but the film could have been longer and provided more discussion of his theories.
