It stars Collins and her on-screen and real-life daughter, Aadyn Encalarde. The film explores multiple women’s health themes including menstruation, motherhood, gender affirmation, and myomectomy, a surgical procedure to remove uterine fibroids. Because Period Party is fictional and does not delve deeply into the themes covered, it is not recommended as a central curricular resource, but the film could potentially be used to prompt discussion, particularly for programs designed to validate the health experiences of Black women and children.
