Ever Green is about a small geographic area in Washington state that is a closed coastal lagoon; there are very few of these environments left along the western US coast. The speakers in the film are environmentalists, locals, activists, and politicians who’ve worked together over several decades to protect the area. This has taken shape over various projects or legal measures, such as protesting logging efforts and housing development plans, which are discussed separately, but with unity. This documentary is only 30 minutes and is broken into smaller subsections for each project they discuss. The overall run time is ideal for in-class viewing, as are the pauses between the sections, giving time to discuss, complete a worksheet, or write a reflection. The content is very specific to this area, the coastal and woodland systems of the Pacific Northwest; it would make a nice case study to examine the work that can happen over an extended time period. This film could be used for geography, environmental studies, or environmental legal studies. The captions are well done.
