With a relatively short run time, this documentary delves into how the history of forced assimilation in Northern America still has ramifications for the decedents of Indian School survivors. Starting with the discovery in Canada of mass graves at the sites of former Indian Schools, this film follows how similar efforts to uncover the truth of what happened in American Indian schools.

While the film itself is unable to answer many of the questions that it sets out to expose, it does highlight the challenge survivors and their families have faced in trying to find out what happened to the family members that never made it home. It provides an excellent opportunity for classroom discussion on this history, the practice of forced assimilation and how the effects are still being felt generations later.
