This program is a part of the African section of the "Exploring the World " series. The Bushmen originally lived in the Kagga Kamma area of western South Africa, but were driven, by European settlement, into the Kalahari Desert. Some members of this group have been resettled in their original homeland, the Kagga Kamma. Interviews with Bushmen and reserve rangers outline how the Bushmen, a hunter/gatherer culture successfully live off the land. There are sections on hunting techniques, rock painting and a visit to a school and ostrich ranch. No on-screen production credits are given. The Afrikaans speaking Canadian (?) who visits a school on the reserve, and talks with the children is not identified. The program seems to treat the Kagga Kamma Reserve as an African "Colonial Williamsburg," where the Bushmen's homes and culture are on display for the entertainment and enlightenment of visitors. Not enough substance to be of much value as an anthropological study. Perhaps useful as a brief introduction to this fascinating group of people for primary and secondary school students.
