This program is a biography of John Dewey, the man, educator, and philosopher. Mr. Dewey expresses the message, “ that going to college is not the same as getting an education.” Becoming a student requires listening to others, lots of reading, acquiring life experiences, and observing the world around ourselves. Since learning is to take place inside and outside of school, Mr. Dewey was instrumental in the starting elementary schools for children. He felt children should develop a way to confront real life problems, through the learning process and experience freedom through the exploration of the arts.

This program is highly recommended for adults interested in John Dewey and his philosophy. The technical portion of this video is great, with still pictures and actual film footage of John Dewey are edited together with narration and music.
