This video, part of a series which offers 4-6 individual segments in each program, focuses on vocational technology and safety advances that are revolutionary and innovative in their technology. This particular video contains 6 short "infomercials." The Protective Suit is an insulated suit that protects against the most hazardous conditions, especially found in nuclear power plants and chemical warfare in battle. The Reaching Forklift, called Teltruk, is a new folklift design that provides more visual space for the driver and incorporates a new patented hydraulic system for lifting heavy loads. The Mesh Reminder discusses how bright orange construction mesh is being used in nursing homes as a gentle restraint system. The Mini Robot shows how engineering students have designed a microrobot using shape memory alloys. Finally, Nailed to the Ground shows how 6-foot long nails are air-fired into dirt embankments to secure the soil using 3000 psi pressure and a unique modern-day siege engine.

This video is recommended for classes dealing with technology and safety issues. European (especially United Kingdom) advances in vocational technology and safety are specifically targeted, so this video should be viewed in conjunction with reports dealing with other countries and their technologies as well. British humor is especially evident in this particular video. Unfortunately, a section indicated on the video called "Rock and Roll" was left out of the film that I reviewed, so purchasers should make sure that all sections indicated on the container are included in their copy of the video.
